As a note for anyone influenced by this commercial, I had a very bad experience with Alienware, I wouldn't recommend buying one.
Pretty stylish commercial though.

Neat commercial. However the Intel thingy at the end...did they pay for that? Alienware does Athlon as well...noting who usually buys those boxes they probably sell more Athlon systems than Intel systems.

arn't you guys a little late. I saw this comercial about a week ago and I went nuts.
I have an alienware it is great it is an area-51 laptop. although the power adapter sucks like shit. it already broke a friend of mine helped me soder(is that spelled right) it back to gether and I can only get a new one frome alienware because the conection to the computer is all weird and I cant get it at the store.
wait did I say laptop I really meant mobile desktop. I got it about 9 or 10 months ago and now the processor I have is the slowest you can get for this model now. and doesn't it suck that they came out with the colors like 1 week after I got it. what a bummer. I bet my next computer will be an alienware.
I really did love that comercial kinda forgott what it looked like though

Guys, thanks for the great response. We really love the feedback.
Incidently, the spot was actually outsourced, we did not do it in house. We devised the concept and storyboards, and the production house took it from there. I think its safe to say that we were very pleased with the final outcome. :)
Stay tuned....we're just getting started ;)

As far as the CG goes, nice work and Art Direction. But as far as cases go, id rather mod myown then buy a pre modded machine. Get more gratifaction out of it that way. (Plus you dont have to depend on a company to fix it)

Why is there an intel sign at the end when, as far as i can tell, you can't buy intel processors with that case:shrug:

awsome comm.. seriously, noe i am goin to steal ur brain too ya know that? grr.. i ahte gods.. well.. i like em.. whatever
ur kiddin, it was completely CG? how did u do the sounds with CG?
that is really sweet, i absolutely love the commercial (especially the motion design/after effects work). however, as alienware still owes us a replacement motherboard from the machine they sent us with a blown one (and being we were told on at least 4 times that that replacement had in fact been sent) i can't really voice my support for their products.

From the ex-alienware art-director....
Alienware has always strived to be cutting edge, this commercial only makes a statement of what companies should be, creative. My experience at alienware was a great one, and their computers rock :buttrock:
For all the people on this board that have negative comments about alienware, let me just give you some background...Alienware was founded by two hardcore gamers building computers for their friends in a garage, overnight they grew to an astonishing level. They are our inspiration as to what creativity can achieve. Who would think, that a company in the low cost computer world would be able to achieve Porche and Ferrari status, because in a sense that is what they are, you are buying their vision, style and joining the ranks of other such supporters.
I can only think of one other company that puts innovation and creativity into their computers, Apple. Mark my words, Alienware is breaking all the rules and will have a definite future.

Can anyone recommend any awards to submit this to? We just missed the deadline for the 3D Awards, but we are going to send out a copy regardless.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

The greatest aspect of the design is the fact it retains the modular/usability factor from the previous cases. As most individuals know, the previous alienware designs were based on the Chieftech Dragon/Antec SOHO 1080 cases. These are reknown as some of the best cases available both for aestetics and usability.
(removable 3.5 drive bays, 2 clip intake mounts, 2 clip exhaust fan mounts, one of the intakes blows directly over one of the 3.5 bays, slidemount 5.25 bays, lottsa space, tough rigid design)
Alienware took the exact same interior (with some slight modification) and made the exterior an absolute beauty to look upon. So you get the best of both worlds. Fantastic looks, and a fantastic interior.
Hopefully someone will clone the design and make it available to the general public sometime in the next 6 months or so :).

Something troubling me in the alienware website. On the photo we see a flat monitor behind a keyboard positioned verticaly and the case, but if we look at the components list under the photo, we can see that the monitor is not included.
Do we pay for plastic piece only ?

Spot looks great and cool concept for the animations from you guys but why won't you tell us who created the motion graphics and 3D? I think they are the ones that deserve some plugs as well on this, not just your product.

04-10-2003, 06:22 PM
hmm. I wonder if the guys who did the CG used Alienwares themselves.
I hope noone else will ever use as cool of cases as Alienware does. because only the highend computers deserve a sexy looking case like this.

I'm this close ' ' to being a convert. Any chance of a case with the funky lighting effects like in the spot? I'd dish out right now for that. Hate to see the price though, the extra shielding from all the dancing electrons would make that a major ouch. But oh how cool would that be!!!!

Actually, they do glow :) Check out the website and view the information about AlienICE (front page).
As much I we love the questions about Alienware products, please direct any more questions to one of our representatives, or checkout the website. I'm sure these guys frown upon using their forums for answering customer service questions :)
Thanks!

I was so glad when I found the chieftec case last year on which the cases for Alienware machines were based at the time and now you've gone and screwed with my head again "(
Simply love the new design, wondering who you outsourced too even though it won't do me any good knowing it.
Been looking for ages on your website just trying to find a picture showing the front of the 5 25" bays, but the "hood" is closed on all the pics. Except for a picture in 1 of the reviews found here (http://www.alienware.com/review_pages/review_template.aspx?FileName=review_maxpc_0203.asp). Quite a nice rig you send them, GeForce FX, new Klipsch audio system plus a 30" NEC LCD /me *drools* Maybe we can sort something out? I review for an, erm, very local newspaper thingy, yeah that's it.
What colour would people choose? I think I'd go for the Cyborg Green one. Would chuck the mouse away, keyboard might stay ")
Love the case, hate the price.
Very clean and cool looking commercial as well.

Aristagon,
Its basically the same interior as the chieftech's/antec's. (Which is good) They just completely redesigned the entire outer shell.

Easy to see if you look at the inside images. The 5.25 bays have a better sliding mechanism/locking mechanism.
Here's the Antec interior for comparison.

Yeah I know m8 ") I own the chieftec version myself, but I wanted to see the little door on the new AW case open so I could see how they did finished off _THAT_ front of the 5 25" bays hehe. Also I'm very curious as to how you can open it, perhaps you're supposed to push the AW logo?
Btw I own a Coolermaster ATC 710 as well, which has the exact same interior as the Chieftec which in its turn is the same as the Alienware, small world eh.
Sorry for taking this topic even more off-topic, but then again so is the complete internet.
