hi

i would like to be able to loft a series of 2d polygon cross sections to create a 3d object(eg.to create a plane fuselage from a series of x sections), at the moment it only seems to let me do this with NURBS curves.

any ideas?

You cant do lofting with polygons.

What you can do is loft with nurbs and than convert to polygons.

In your loft option box (or any surface tool option box for that matter) you can specify the output geometry of the operation. just choose polygons instead of nurbs and your tesselation method .

thanks for the replys

it pretty much confirms what i thought. the NURBS to poly option isnt really good enough, as i need to be able to create low poly models, and i dont have enough control over the polys generated using this method.

the closest i could get to doing it with polys was by selecting the individual poly edges, but this didnt work particularly well either.

oh well, back to the drawing board!

why don't you use linear curve as profiles?
draw some 1 degree curves.

just select the nurbs surface and convert to polygon and in the settings tell it to make it however low poly you need

thanks for the help guys, the linear NURBS worked a treat
