I came across a marvelous book by Gries/Panafieu, called "Evolution".
english volume (http://www.amazon.de/Evolution-Jean-Baptiste-Panafieu/dp/1583227849/ref=sr_1_1/303-9266585-6402631?ie=UTF8&s=books-intl-de&qid=1192521208&sr=1-1)
german volume (http://www.amazon.de/Evolution-Jean-Baptiste-Panafieu/dp/3894056940/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3/303-9266585-6402631?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1192521096&sr=8-3)
Its main goal is to show the interconnectedness of all species and it uses only one way to illustrate this: photos of skeletons.
Had I had left the 58€ I would have immediately shelved them out. The photography in it is strikingly beautiful and the similarities are quite dominant. It's the size of a medium sized photography volume, i.e., much larger than a normal book.
