hi oglu,

nice concept so far. I would maybe make the thigh a bit more muscular. Looking forward to your sculpting. Will you stick with the color for the final model? I like it a lot.

greetings

Hi oglu :scream:

I like the style and the coloration of your concept. The design of your creature looks also interesting. There are some little issues of the shapes/proportions but I’m sure you will fix that in your 3D model. Looking forward for updates :bounce:

nice concept so far, it will be interesting to see your progress while you model a whole character. ;) do you want to texture it too or will you "only" model it?

oglu
10-16-2007, 08:04 PM
thanks razor...
auctor yes i will stick with these color...
cral thanks ill try to fix the proportions...
kzin yes textures for this one...

Nice edge loops! The concept looks nice. You should definitely use some human anatomy references for the top half though....and maybe some goat reference for the bottom half. Can't wait to see the progress,...good luck!

nice loopwork. like your way of pbp modelling
i would have stopped adding loops somewhere between get the rest to this stage, but maybe you work the parts successivly out. interesting...

PS: wir könnten auch gleich auf deutsch weitermachen bei der quote hier im thread :scream:

Topology looks really clean man! Also it´s kinda dense so still a lot of frame for details. Impressive :)

Sweet progress, oglu!

The head looks really sweet, as usual. :)

With the topo of the legs, I dont really know what to tell you, as I am still trying to make sense of the anatomy. You seem to have a double heel setup there and I cant really get my head to figure out how exactely that would work with muscle attachments etc!? Other than that I suggest "Ellenberger" for excellent animal anatomy refs.

Cheers!

oglu
10-21-2007, 06:22 PM
yes you are right at the moment nothing make sence... ;)
i will try to fix that when the body is done...
maybe i model some new...

ania
10-21-2007, 07:24 PM
I would make the knees sharper, sticking out, now it looks like there's no bone under the skin.
apart from that really good.

oglu
10-22-2007, 07:19 AM
thanks ania... i will rework the forms/proportions in the sculpting pass...
this is only a rough basemesh...

TheRazorsEdge

yes you are right at the moment nothing make sence... ;)
i will try to fix that when the body is done...
maybe i model some new...

A reversed knee setup might work for what you have as the upper heel right now!?

SeanJM

Nice work, I really like the topo, looks clean.

oglu
10-23-2007, 06:26 PM
some tests on the leg...
http://www.mc-rolling-skulls.at/oglu/hmc_demon_leg_01.jpg

and the progress on the body...
testing and blocking around... (i hate these legs)...

TheRazorsEdge
10-23-2007, 07:01 PM
Oh, that's what you are going for!

It still doesnt make a lot of anatomical sense tough. Now you have a forearm (if I am not completely mistaken that image is of a dogs foreleg), which is attached at what should be the elbow, to what should be the ankle of a lower leg. How about trying a double thigh setup, kinda like a hydraulic "Hebebühne". That might work!

Cheers!

oglu
10-23-2007, 07:20 PM
yes its an forarm dogleg... but its not working...
it looks crappy at the moment... i will test some other variations....

Kzin
10-23-2007, 07:42 PM
i agree, it does not make sense because it looks "unstable". it could work if you would make the legs longer and thinner and the feets a bit bigger, the area where the creature stands on should be bigger. for your the dog (?) example picture, you cant compare it to your thing, because a dog has 4 legs and its so much more "stable". ;)

oglu
10-23-2007, 09:54 PM
thanks for reply... i will try to fix that...
here the last one for tonight...

Make the tighs(Oberschenkel) shorter and the foot longer, more like a horse.

Subscribed.

Walli
10-24-2007, 05:46 PM
now the legs look much better, but I also would propose to give more weight to the upper leg.

oglu
10-24-2007, 08:13 PM
thanks samarcbz...
scrimski and walli i will give him more upper leg... :)

so the multi tile uvs are final...
normally i do the uvs after sculpting but in this case the mesh wont change so much...

hi Oglu,

"nice" creature - in my view you have to work on the feet much more before touching anything else; I have added photos of tobias moretti as the devil in "Jedermann" - I like his costume very much, and I think a good point about it is the thickness and the length of the legs;
even if i.e. horses have quite thin legs compared to their weight, I still believe, in the case of your model you have to decide whether makeing it really skinny, like only skin, bones and tendons - in this case the actual thickness of the legs would fit but not the length (again: in my view);
I would like better the "moretti"-approach, a quite tall and strong, heavy devil with thick legs, again very long, like suggested in the pictures below

as already pointed out the headmesh is very clean!

nice work! m°

great progress oglu! i really like the feeds and legs now, looks much better. the pose give the character more weight and mass, it looks much "stronger" now. i also like the "flow", i mean how the arm goes over to the hand, looks naturel.

DDS
10-31-2007, 09:15 PM
good stuff! I love head and feet man. I think hands are too small tho! Also his back is not wide enough on the posed version, hope you are aware of it.

Keep 'em coming man, I'm really looking forward!

DoctorMonkeyFist
11-01-2007, 12:47 AM
that looks great! i have to agree that the hands should be larger. Also it feels like the gesture of the bottom half isn't following through to the top half. good work! Keep it up!

hey oglu!

great progress here. think the overall of the character is really good.
just got a few crits/suggestions. i think the joint below the normal knee (not sure of what it's called) could be a tad "stronger". it looks a bit fragile atm.
i think the head looks really good in the last mudbox side view but the front view lacks abit. just not sure what it is, sorry.

ps. sorry for the badly formulated suggestions.

he oglu,
nice to see a new char from you...

in my opinion is the torso to long and you pushes some details too far... like the breast...
arms looking also abit weak imo... and the face also abit too long...

also give the ears an asymetrical pose.. they look abit static at the moment

oglu
11-03-2007, 04:04 PM
thanks theht...

head still in progress...

hey buddy.
i like your anatomical structure you developed on your model but the pose... ahh... please! looks like there is no weight in the pose.. try to stand in this pose like for 2 seconds and you'll see it hurts... so please change it, i wanna see more weight and maybe a more heroic pose.. otherwise i like it! peace bro

oglu
11-06-2007, 08:34 AM
thanks jens... yes i know the pose sucks...
i give transpose a try... :scream:

here an overpaint...

looking on your concepts i awaited a less human looking guy, which would be a bit more scary, right now he kinda reminds me of CLint Eastwood with fat lips :P
But you've got some very promising forms in there and i overall like it, the only thing i dislike, are the ears, they are not fleshy, not lifelike, the look like extrusions with some random forms on them.

oh and press P when working on this one ;)

Gephoria
11-06-2007, 08:43 PM
the ears reminded me of the pigears i fed my dog,

good job overall but the ears look unfinished imo or like something's missing

great model over all. some crits, the lower legs look too skinny and weak. the muscle definition look too strong around the bicep and chest area. need more naturat fat, loose skin etc. looking at teh face he looks like an old character but the body does not show that.
over all he might need to look more stronger/menacing. you could widen the neck, give him a slight hunch back etc.
