I have just received my upgrade to 10.5 but am in the middle of a project so may no install it just yet. It comes with a new serial number and I was wondering if this is going to disrupt my plugins which are locked to my R10 serial. Can't remember what happened last time

No. The only serial number that Cinema 4D provides to plugins is the base Cinema 4D serial number (1080.., 1090.., 1000... - this includes temporary serial numbers 1083, 1093, 1003). Any module serial numbers are unavailable except for BodyPaint. Intermediate release serial numbers (R8.5, R9.5, R10.5) are ignored - the major version has precedence (R8, R9, R10).

So, theoretically, any plugin that uses the base Cinema 4D serial number (all of mine, for instance) for locking the license will continue to work with R10.5 and any subsequent releases up to R11.0.
