i cant get it to work :(
i do everything
but when it comes time to press ctrl F12 or F11
it doesn't work
the black texture just sits there still :(
help me please..cause this script owns..by the sound of it

isometrix load the action in photoshop.
go to the action tab , from the side drop down select load action , choose ATR from the menu. Once you do that it'll work.

ok, i still don't know how this is supposed to work...i can't assign a psd file to a material in maya right? so i would have to create a blank bmp in psd to assign then what?
forgive my confusion, but could one you guys kindly remove the veil from my eyes?

I seem to have difficulty trying to get his to work.
I really want to see the potential of it but i can't.
I'm using Photoshop6 and Maya 4.02.
In maya when I launched atr it says "ATR is active" but it gave me an error saying, "invalid flag" -copy"
And in photoshop I load the ATR action but I can never play it from the Palette. And nothing happens when I press F11 and it removes my last action when I press F12.
I really want to see this Magic! Can anyone help me in my ignorance? Maybe a step by step?

Dudeman, the plugin wasnt actually tested wiv photoshop6, but the writter thought it should still work... get the trial of photoshop 7 n see if you still have the same problem.
n i cant think why that "invaild Flag" is popping up sorry.

assign a texture to your model , open the same texture in photoshop. now activate ATR.
now when you paint on the texture at photoshop and hit ctrl F12 it'll update in maya

hmmm i set up this plugin fine on my mates computer... but wen i came to mine -
i excuted the atr.mel script then typed "atrINSTALL" in the commandline bit, hit enter n it thru this error at me...
"atrINSTALL;
// Error: Object not found: MayaWindow|mayaMainWindowForm|formLayout2|formLayout14|formLayout15|formLayout49|ShelfLayout| //"
anyone help?! - this is buggin me now !

i "think" when you get that error its cause your shelf isnt on. Show your shelf then try it. Also for the people that said they cant get it to work when you press f12 in your actions switch to button mode and just click the button. Thats what i had to do to get it to work correctly. Dunno why.

ahhh i see now cheers crgowo, yeah going to button mode on tha actions i find easier then moving ur hand to Ctrl then F12 - too much effort :D

i haven't tried the photoshop connection yet - but i assume it is some live connection between photoshop and maya - so you just hit some button and your textures are updated - without any need to manually export and reimport a texture
the same kind of functionality would be nice for modeling - maybe something similar to lightwave's modeler and layout connection

This hasn't much in common with GhostPainter for 3ds max. GhostPainter lets you paint in 3ds max viewports using Photoshop tools, unwrap UVs to Photoshop Paths...

It's more like 3ds max 5's automatic reload when a file has been saved in Photoshop.
