View Full Version : [3D Max] Rolling a camera.

Hi folks!

I have a couple of questions about rolling a camera trough a scene.

1: If i am using splines to let the camera run over it won't record very smoothly. Like if i make a circular spline with loads of "vertexes" in it it you still "feel" the corners.

2: Also, i want a concistant speed. It speeds up at the start of the pline and slows down at the end. How can i have more controll over this? Becaus if i want to make 360 degree rotation around a object in my scene i can't loop it becaus you will notice the "speed up and slow down".

3: I am mainly using splines to roll the camera over and sometimes manually move the camera and focus point with auto keys. But are there any other options/tools to record a scene?

5: Is there any way to record backwards? I got an effect and i don't know how to reverse the effect by itself so just recording backwards does the trick :D.

4: Have any other tips or are there any tutorials on recording a scene professionally? Like certain camera effects.

Thnx

Increase the size of your scene objects. Do not forget to resetXform everything. Alternatviley you can create a dummy, rotate it and link the camera to it. Or use a NURBS spline

2: Also, i want a concistant speed. It speeds up at the start of the pline and slows down at the end. How can i have more controll over this? Becaus if i want to make 360 degree rotation around a object in my scene i can't loop it becaus you will notice the "speed up and slow down".
Change the percentage controller to linear. Can be done in the motion tab or in the track view.

3: I am mainly using splines to roll the camera over and sometimes manually move the camera and focus point with auto keys. But are there any other options/tools to record a scene? Yes. Scripting, parameter wiring, using reaction controllers, attachment constraints, link constraints, expressions and for sure a few more.

Define 'certain effect'.
