I would like to use the Computer that is working as the NetServer also as a client for a job.
Are there any issues when doing this?

No other programms would be running other than NetRender.
thanks for any advice,

That is no problem I usually do so. With more than about 10 Clients I don't have the a Client running on the same machine.

thanks for any advice,

just watch the total ram and processor usage - if either get bogged down you may get image transfer errors or cleints dropping off etc - with a few clients you should be fine - but under heavy loads it is better to then quit the NET client in the machine that is also the NET Server - the beauty of NET is that is a simple thing to do and just as easy to join the machine acting as the NET Server back into any renders where the load is light.

i've noticed some file output types do cause a heavier load on the NET Server machine like PNG, multilayer PSD, extremely large format images etc - so just keep a process or task manager up to see what is happening and you probably won't have anything to worry about.

thanks Dan and TCA.
I will have 14 clients running altogether,
the NetServer is a new, fast machine, so I am hoping it can handle it, otherwise I will drop it out of the render job as you suggest.

There is a tipping point when it becomes slower to run a client on the server machine. I would think it depends on your networking set up and cpu speed and ram of the server machine. When I would add machines I would run tests to see if a render was faster with or without a client running on the server. Eventually (I don't remember exactly but probably in the 12 to 16 machine range) it was slower to run the client on the server machine.
