Title: The plug and the prey
Name: Anders Lindström
Country: Sweden
Software: Photoshop, Rhino, VRay
The picture and the title is quite self explanatory. Most of the times when we consume power, it takes a toll on poor mother earth. But I am as bad as everybody else to save power and live "green". But I guess it is time for everybody to shape up, and start to save power and reduce the impact with make on our enviroment.
style wise, I wanted the image to look like a photo from a 70`s magazine where the colours haven´t matched up perfect in the print.
For this little piece I used Rhino 4, vray for rhino and photoshop.
Feel free to C & C!

Hi this is a nice representation of what we are doing to the world. If you want to change the picture all i can think of is to give the plug box more character: meaning that you can give it large teeth and maybe eye's make it a monster of some kind but beware of doing to much as it might kill your original intentions.
That's just my 2 cents, you don't have to use it if you don't want to.

FerdiJV,
Well my intention was to make it look like photo from the 70`s. So I thought, what would a photographer do at that time? I figured he/she would do just slight modifications, if any, to standard product, bought from the nearest supermarket. But that´s my interpetation...
But, I totally agree with your comments. It would probably make the image look better. In general I think that this kind of debate is very intersting, photoreal vs cartoon, generic vs. character. Are things we create, restricted to certain boundarys, or is all just in the eye of the beholder?!
thanks for your input!

B-W-Design,
Thanks!
The blood is handpainted in photoshop. I guess that makes the picture 2,5 D... ;)

A little ironic sending this message through computer grahpics huh? :)
I find the image quite bland. The edges are all too sharp, you need to bevel, and the earth just isn't cutting it for me.
And in my opinion, and this is opinion here, the blood is very cliche and makes me roll my eyes. I can see where you are going, and how you want it to look like we are sucking the life out, but it just seems like every other pro-green type of imagery I see floating around.
The way the cords are wrappig and looping around the earth looks great, I think you have really good movement there and it adds a lot to the image. Also the one plug lifted in the air with the prongs shining was well done, and looks dangerous.

Michael5188,
As I wrote, I am no "live-green-or-I-kill-you-all-activist", so don´t take this image all too serious!
The edges. I actually have the plug on my desk right know, and the edges are sharp as a razorblade. no bevel what so ever. Of course I could have added a little bevel, but then you wouldn´t have anything to nag about ;)
But thanks for your opinions! :)
