lgslgs 10-12-2007, 10:17 PM Quick question: Are packed images that are mapped to unused materials discarded when you close Blender?

basically yes and no.
Not if you enable/activate the 'F' button next to the material name in the materials window,
not because the texture is lost(well actually the texture IS stored) but because the material is lost(if you check the textures datablocks, they are stored, if you have stored them..) hope this made any sense.. :p

I think I understand you.
If I have a packed texture image that is not assigned to any material, that stays with the blend file when I close it. So when I open it the file is still packed, accessible from the texture select section, but has the "O" next to it because it is not in use.
So if I want to save a packed texture, I do not necesarily need to attach it to a F-fake material to keep it from being lost, right?
