As I saw the WIP challenge in february I was impressed by the apocalyptic cars. So I started to make my own idea about such a car. Here I tried to improve my texturing skill. Please give your comment and show me hints how to improve the model.

I'm with Decay on that one.. Awesome work! Great detail. I want to see the character that will be driving this. You could go into a crazy concept from the car alone. I'd also like to see a bit closer of a render.

cool thanks for the bigger one,,, its a great concept.. love the detail. kinda reminds me of the car in Fack to the Future,, only because of the little parts,, not design,, I'm sure you know what I'm saying.. anyhoo time for a cool scene,,, how long does it take too render this.

I rendered it with brazil in 1024 & 768 and it took ca. 5 min!

Looks great.
I guess its a really low poly model as you have painted in alot of edges, which works really well. Though side effect from this is that its starting to loose its Photorealisium and look more like a Cell shaded image. Great if thats what you are after, otherwise you may want to tone down those edges. Also due to all the diffuse lighting from Brazil (more so the lack of specular lighting), this addes to the Cel shader look.

Only other real crit is that the texture is obviously mirrored.

Anyway, keep us posted.
Cheers

thats right! I was too lazy to make another textures for the other side because this model was getting on my nerves after some time  !

This looks great, nice modelling!
I think it almost looks like it should hover rather than travel on wheels. Also I'd like to see variation in the texture, not in colour or surface, but more drastic burn marks and scratches, really rough it up.

nice, i like it :)

part of what makes it look like a hover car is that the wheels are hidden. i think that at least in the textures there should be panels covering the wheels, so they can be accessed for maintenance. and there should be a lot more damage on the front, even dents and stuff.

Very nice design... I think if ya should add more details to the model. Is it supposed to go into a game or something?

first thanx to your comments.

1. no, the model is only to improve my (beginner)-skill because I got to learn a lot.

2. good idea to make the front more look like damaged

I think this is looking pretty good and thanks for the larger render as the smaller ones with the distracting borders aren't doing you any favours. You might want to up your GI max/min samples to smooth out the blotchyness on the floor.
Brazil in GI mode doesn't seem to cope with bump mapping and I am wondering whether any of your textures are bump mapped because they look rather flat at the moment and you will have to probably loose the skylight mode for the bumps to show if you have them. Otherwise though, I think the actual texturing looks very good, though you might want to play around with some specularity and possibly subtle reflection maps to give them more depth. :)
