:wavey: Hi to all, this is my first post!

I have done this rendering with 3DMax5 and the new light tracer engine.
All the texture are drawn in photoshop.

Later, on this image, I have written a tutorial for an Italian CG magazine (CGT&A).

Pardon my poor english

I like everything but the stem/branch.

The fabric thing is great. How did you do it not to stretch all over the model?

I have first create a plane with an UVW map and then modelled it.

Hi!

Looks nice!
There are a few things i would change. The fabric seems to float in air. I think i know what you want to achieve through this, but the fabric needs ground contact to get those typical waves unless it is a very stiff material which may be self-supporting. It looks like a dishtowel to me, so i would expect something a little more smooth.
The light is good for a ultra-realistic image. But the geometry would look better with a more "spectacular" lighting, maybe?
It all seems to float in air a bit. maybe the shadow is not intense enough, i´m not sure.

That's it?

People have said that's the way to do it, but I can't seem to understand it, even though I make everything like should. And it isn't _THAT_ hard process.

Marco, can you tell me, does the same process work, if I make the fabric more curvy and bouncy? Like a quilt which would have been rugged as a roll or something?

Bentar: I want obtain a rough fabric like a kitchen duster, not a smooth fabric. I agree with you say "all seems to float a bit":hmm:

Erikoinen: that process can work right also with more curvy, but you can't stretch too much the points in the mesh. try to make inalterate the distances between the points.

Aah! Now you've said it, what no-one else have not said.

Thank you, genius.

But umm, how about if I make an plane with 4x4 segments, and then I cut one of the polygons in half, would it get messy and .. not working?

no, If you cut, apply the uvw and then curve it.

the grapes and cloth are wicked, but the apples look a bit off. definately the stems but also the shape i think.

great work tho!!
