I had dealing with TS before and the question we should all be asking is:

"keep a look out in the next few days" ? what does that that mean in TS time cycle !?!

they should at least advertise its release day.Give us a dvd cover or something ... jesus !

hey guys, yeah its been frustrating. I completed the disc 3 months ago and I had been emailing them myself and not getting anything back. However I guess its just been crazy busy there.

Everything is sorted and it should be out on the 31st I hear! So I will be very glad to release this disc. Fume FX: Essentials.

about time! : )

Wow this is a low key release build up.

TS has nothing to advertise the release.
Allan didn't leak any still images at all ! not even the DVD art work or design.
the only place I hear about this is once in a while someone ask about it in the forums.
Does anybody want to make money on this ?
I think that CGacademy would have done a better job of advertising .. but they might have been more expensive for the quality of ads ect.....

Yes I'm happy that " It might come out tommorow" Allan did say and I'm quoting him : "it should be out on the 31st I hear! "

"I hear" ?...... what ? that doesn't seemed like 100% to me.

only 24 more hours..we'll see but I'm not gonna loose any sleep waiting.Keeping my fingers crossed.

well TurboSquid released it last friday so if someone ordered it that same day, they wouldn't get it till today or tommorow.

or a second more scary thought is : being that Fume Fx thread is like 900 some posting, maybe some people are waiting for the more advanced stuff. Nahh maybe not, you will learn from Allan even if you think you know it all :-)

As for me I have to pay some small bills first then I'll buy it....actually When it first came out that friday, I would of said the hell with my bills and bought it if they had a downloadable version ! I would of bought it on impulse. I bought stuff from GNOMONOLOGY like that on impulse and just delt with the lack of money later :)

And also if you didn't know ..you could view some sample video of Allan Mckay Fume Fx dvd :

Thanks guys, the fume fx essentials seems to be a big hit. I'm quite happy with the outcome - the product contains a lot of cool fx advanced material for creating advanced fluids.

I just got the DVD this weekend. Thanks Alan, this really got me understanding some of the principles behind fumeFX. I found it difficult to make it all the way through a tutorial as I kept wandering off the road playing with all the different settings and viewing results.

Alan, in one of the tutorials you mentioned there would be a second (advanced) edition to the DVD, any idea on an ETA? Also the dreamweaver viewer executeable thing kept bombing so I had to run .mov files strait off the disc. No problem there just hope I'm not missing anything important. FYI you need a new microphone :)

Lastly - I am a big big big big big fan of your work. Thank you for making this DVD.

thanks mate glad to hear!
Is there a problem with the mic? I havent seen the final version so I hope the audio is ok!

This DVD I aimed at covering all of the concept of how fluids work and how to get the most out of it. I do plan to release some additional content probably in May/June, primarily focussing on fire and some advanced stuff like scripting. Well there's a lot I plan to do. However I do see this disc being the grounding for all of the others to then be followed on from.

I'm planning on releasing a lot of free content too, however finding time these days is proving difficult.

Thanks I'm glad everyones learning a lot from the DVD!

I would really like to buy this dvd however they want 17 GBP to post it!!! Thats alot of money. I do not understand why we cannot download it. I do not see how it is a issue with piracy, people still rip cds and put them on dodgy p2p sites.

leecobra to be honest, I totally agree - I've actually pushed this issue a lot over the years. Asking for multiple mailing options and such. Because personally I dont see why the costs necessarily need to be so steep. I think perhaps its because they want it by registered mail so people cant claim it got lost etc. or whatever other reasons. However I am with you on this, and I'm trying to find a more practical solution.

Would be good to get something done about it, good luck Allan. I will buy it regardless at some point in the very near future just hope it does not hurt your sales to much being that high. I look forward to learning about Fume Fx.

no problem - honestly I'm not really doing it for the sales. I've just done a bunch of intense films with fume and have built a fairly steady database of information and good approaches to various effects. so I wanted to put something out there so there's some actual training material available.

I'm hoping to release a lot of free content for fume - for the web as well, just finding time is the hard part!

Was just wondering if you have worked with thinkingparticles much, and if so, are there any plans to make some training material for it? I can grasp some concepts of the program but there are a few certain situations that evade me. Thanks.

Ok well finished your DVD Allan  now I have a pretty good understanding of how things work. So after a couple of days messing around I came up with this explosion. To be honest before I watched this DVD I did not know how to control Fume Fx but now I do.

I wanted to up the detail a bit more but it was taking ages to sim, so until get a new quad core this will have to do. Anyway hope you like it :)
