View Full Version : First Car Model - BMW Series 3 Limo
cyberjunkie 04-09-2003, 08:56 AM AaaH, My first thread ever. This is a BMW series 3 model which I made on Max. Took me around 8 - 12 hours of work which was done over a week or so. Its got some glitches. I don't know when to stop so I thought I'll put it on the WIP section. i think I'll post all my WIP images on some free host soon. Probably the best model I've made

it really looks like a tiny car. Maybe you could try to work on the lightning of that scene. And post a larger render, this picture is very small...

not bad for a first car. The paint on the last pic needs serious work tho :)

not too bad for a first car :) here are some things i see:
1. i can see inside the wheel wells.
2. there are no hood lines accenting the hood.
3. work on that front grille
4. the bottom trim of your windows is bending upwards
5. the pillars in between the front and rear doors are too thin. widen it up a little.
6. pillar on the rear door is missing.
7. body molding on the sides of the car is missing.
8. model wheel wells so i cant see in the bottom of the car
9. the headlights are off a little bit. check bmw's websie for reference.
Im sorry if i am being picky, but i was just suggesting things you could work on. Not bad for a first car though :)

cyberjunkie,
I have to agree with slice56 on your tweaking of the car model, but towards lighting yer car, you will want to encorporate some fresnel on your car's reflection, or you can do some incidence angle thingy. In lightwave we have this option with our gradients area. I'm sure there is something similar in your app.
sweet, good job!!!

yes, a good start... still some dents to erase :) ... have you heard about the thing with those quads, NURMS and MeshSmooth? you should google for "understanding NURMS" you will then find a link (one of the topmost) where you can see how to USE MS.... I think most of the dents are caused by tris or n-gons.....
greetings,
