Hello terryow,
gold, as a metal, shows metallic glance. A mirror is nothing else as a highly reflective metallic surface. Some metals reflect all wavelenghts of the visible light more or less equal, therefore they look like silver. Gold reflects less blue light, the reflection is tinted yellowish. If realistic looking gold is your goal, you have to create a highly reflective surface and tint the reflection. Dielectric materials (almost everything which is not a metal) reflect the color of th e light, colored metals like gold tint the reflection. Reflective materials need an enviroment to reflect.
Your approach looks more like yellow plastic. Metals don't have that much color, since they reflect just their surroundings.

for whatever software you use make sure your diffuse and ambient are black. Reflective colour as something like orangy yellowish type of golden colour. Map with an envoirnment map(HDRI prefered). Sample with some softness (non glossy) to something less than 100% (because nothing in the world is 100% glossy).

Maybe this is a little late - I don't have the experience with the texture, but I do have it with the metal itself. Gold comes pure or in alloys which have different colors, but they are all more of an orangish-brownish yellow. Yours is almost lemon yellow, plus plastic-ey look. Gold is more of a lighter orangey-brown. I'd suggest sampling some picture of jewelry, just for the color. The rest - specular and all, I leave to those who know more than I.
