Hello,
Does anyone have experience with this pipeline. I have the opportunity to do some texture work with a shop that is using Max and Deep Paint. I would like to work in C4D v.8 because I have more experience with the program and no time at all to get up to speed with Deep Paint. I used Max at a previous job for about a year and a half and I am sure that I will be able to remember enough to navigate around. I got C4D a little over a year ago because of the price performance ratio and another job that wanted me to work in the old (1994?) unix program Amazon Paint.
As a test I've tried working with an old .3DS file and realized immediately that I was constrained to 8.3 filename conventions - problematic but not insurmountable. The maps came into C4D with the luminance channel checked - don't know why. However, I was unhappy to note that the UV mapping seems to be not quite the same and C4D also handles smoothing differently. Do I need to go back to C4D v.7 and use the 'BodyPaint 3D <-> 3DS MAX integration' plugin from Maxon to get this to work properly or is there something else that can be done from version 8?
Thanks for any help.
