Ok, I want to start to do some another matte-painting here. Because pleople don`t know my process. So for that reason I want to start here and than post finished matte to 2D Gallery..
I have idea about ice-berg`s city. Could be? :) but I have a question... all time I need to upload WIP into my website and than post here a link? Because it will be crazy and I`ll have on my website alot of images of WIP of this matte... Its there some other way?
Thanks.

I use imageshack.us

They'll host your WIPs and they accept some good file formats to show off. Only thing though so far is they have to be under 1.5 mb but it's doable. :)

Ok, now I have done searching for some references of ice-bergs. But still I am looking for somethig else. And I am going to 3ds max create a basic mesh for Zbrush3 where I can put more details. Now is here 00:15 and I have enough for today. You know, work and + this..

Here are some models fron Zbrush3 and screenshots form zbrush3, finalizing of sketch and some refereces which I`ll use... I did everything 3d and than I`ll make a selection of each model and use some kind of parts for this matte. Some kind like puzzle but with paint-over.

I was working on it yesterday(today) until 4am and now again.
I start to use the references and 3d objects. The process is: I cut some good parts from references which are very good to use on 3d objects. And also I cut some good parts from 3d objects, which I have done in 3ds max+Zbrush and put it on the sketch on the parts of icebergs... Than with filter and colour corrections I keep the 3d objects(or part of them) and I start to put the parts of references on the 3d objects and start to do paint-over.
Here is another WIP:

Ok, I think it is final image. I put some rocks to foreground, because its more interesting and its working together-ice/rocks... And I paint some foreground ice for better depth feeling. So if you have a look on the image and 3d references, you`ll find which parts are 3d and which parts are painted and which parts are paint over:

I hope you have a better idea, how I did this ice-enviroments...
Cheers: G.

Great progress shots - I love this image.

I read your original thread title as "Ice-Berg City" and thought, "A city on an ice-berg? Cool!" So I was a little disappointed to not see a city on an ice-berg, but the image is still great. :) Hmmm, city on an ice-berg.....
