SPLASH! I'm in.

HERE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MeEiWUpqH9w) is my first pass at the unpopped balloon anim. I'm not sure yet as to which point in the animation that the pop will occur. I'm thinking it will happen when the balloon hits the ground right after the hit on the shelf.

Have a look and let me know what you think.

I like the feel of it very much. How did you do it?

Well, I'm running Maya 7, so I don;t have the benifit of the new cloth solver. I'm using the Nima / AGEA PhysX plug-in (http://www.feelingsoftware.com/content/view/45/67/lang,en/) to create a cloth object with some bending and internal pressure.

My main concern was to be able to get a feeling of wieght inside the balloon as well as the rubbery stretch that happens when the water tries to rush out but gets pulled back to the center of the balloon.

I think it's working.

I'm running my first fluid sim now.

Hey.looks good.Waiting to see ur water simulation.R u doing it in maya.or using Rf r other stuff.I too hve tried Nima / AGEA PhysX plug-in. (http://www.feelingsoftware.com/content/view/45/67/lang,en/)
Its really cool huh......Me too trying for balloon hitting ground. (http://www.feelingsoftware.com/content/view/45/67/lang,en/)

I'm using Maya for the animation and modeling, and RealFlow for the simulations.

OK, I've got my first water sim in there. There are some things I like about it, and lots that I plan to improve upon.

Here it is (forgive the YouTube compression) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFnmMprWTKE)

I haven't gotten the balloon rip in there yet, I need to add some friction to the shelf, make the water thinner overall, and get the warble on the water out of there. This is most likely due to the compression settings on the fluid.

Hey everyone,

I just got back home after being evacuated for most of the week due to the wildfires in southern California (http://newtoons.frederator.com/post/4663).

I don't know that I'll be able to catch up, but I'm going to give it a shot.

OK, after watching the stuff I did before the evacuation, I'm not really enjoying my entry. I'm not interested in it enough to stay motivated.

I'm going to add another layer of complexity and have a character in there as well.

My new plan is to have a mouse character carry the water balloon and then throw it into the air. The balloon will then fall onto him and he'll get soaking wet. Oh yeah, and he'll be a furry mouse.

Keep watching this space.

Here is the little mouse guy who will be interacting with the water balloon. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RCoQTvwmmg) The YouTube compression darkened it quite a bit, but the body has a soft brown fur coat. When he gets wet, his fur will get soaked as well.

Cool!
Looking forward to it.
And I do hope all your loved ones are ok.

Yes, we're all fine. No damage to our house or anything either... just lots of ashes to clean up.

I've changed my idea a bit. The mouse is going to be bouncing on the balloon now, and then POP! I'll probably post some rough tests on that tomorrow.

HERE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuF_Djn2uo8) is a quick WIP of the mouse character jumping on the water balloon. Nothing here is final, I'm just showing where I'm at with things.

hey this is coming really good! I am looking forward to your entry.Though balloon deformation look a bit unrealstic(looks like it's manually animated). Try some deformation dynamics. what are you using max or maya?

Sorry guys, there's no way I can get this done by the deadline. Too much other stuff has come up in the last few days.

I do hope to finish this piece sometime soon, but it won't be in time for the challenge. :(

It is time to talk about the current challenge:

Would love to hear your input
