View Full Version : "Scale tool". I want to change the way it scales my objects! but how?
Alexandergre 10-10-2007, 04:40 PM Alrgiht, Everytime I scale something with the "Select & unifrom Scale" tool, it scales them from the center of the object but I dont want it.
example:
I have a box in my scene,
In the parameters panel, I change the "length" from 10 to 20. now my box has the same position and it just added 5 cm to each side of my box.
I want it to be scaled just from one side.
is there any way i could change it?
in the costumize panel I looked and there are just too many thing. I couldnt find anything.

Put pivot to where you want your scaling origin to be. A nice script to help: http://www.martincoven.com/scripts/MC_AffectPivot.zip

hmmn
just a couple of comments. firstly, you mention scaling and you also mention changing the width parameter of the base object. these are different things, and changing the pivot isn't going to change how this parameter effects the width of the object.
what you're looknig for is a relative transform, you want to transform (in this case the scale) an object relative to a point other than it's pivot. you can change the coordinate system on the top toolbar by holding down the button with the red dots next to the reference coordinate system drop down. The last option is for "use transform coordinate center". using your snap settings (grid, or vertex?) and lock selection (spacebar) you can now lock onto another point in space rather thant he object pivot of the selection center.
note : don't scale the base object! always use an xform modifier or scale in the sub-object.

Josh.
