View Full Version : Material Converters for Max 9
traviswinch 10-10-2007, 12:54 PM Hi everyone
Is there any good material converters that can convert between Standard, Vray, and Final Render Materials out there? The company I work for doesn't have a renderer standard yet and once we do we will have to convert the materials to whatever the render standard is.
Thanks

www.zoobox.com/scripts (http://www.zoobox.com/scripts) has a fr material converter - Matt is working on one for max 9, but the workaround at the moment is open max 8, convert mats - save lib and then open file in max 9 - importing fr library.
There are plenty of sweet new shaders in all the renderers, so it won't give you optimal results.
finalrender will however render the Mental Ray Arch & Design shaders - albeit not 100% identical - but near enough.
It would be a great day when all 3rd party renderers had to make the shaders compatible with the other renderers - hell even an emulator would be nice sometimes. At present I get a load of visuals from fry render that i need to bring into fr to meet the clients leadtime - copying all the values is tedious, but we're pretty much there now :)
