CGTalk - help! help! ribbon

Hi

How to animate a custom shape ribbion wrap a around a globe in 3ds Max?
I tried using PathDeform, it doesnt seem to work
I have attached the custom shape

Tried AE, because there are going to have text on the ribbon, it will be a problem

Can anyone give me some suggestion how I would able to achieve it?

why not put spline bones on it. and you can ravel and unravel it however you like
for instance this uses spline bones. use 3d snapes and place the spline bones on the object
