hi guys

i have confusion in noraml and displacement map . I m not getting it whats the difference between the displacement and normal maps
what i knows is that i think they both are used for bumps map
but i dont know why we are using the both displacement and normal maps if both have the same purpose
i had seen lots of tutorial they only tell how to use them but why we are using them that still a question for me ???????????????????

can someone help me

im using zbrush 3.1 and 3d max 8

The difference: a displacement map will change your model's silhouette when rendered.

i use displacement maps for larg details "muscles,...etc" and normal maps for tiny details "wrinkles,facial hair,.....etc".
