Everything is roughly indicated.. I think I can work with it!

OK, that's what I worked out so far, I think the design of the boy works.

hey dude, thanks a lot for stopping by my thread and leaving generous comments!

As far as your piece is concerned, i think you've got great sketching skills, and your basic paint is looking very good already. moreover, i'm really liking your characters, their style and expressions are very strong. too bad it's a little late in the challenge, hope you'll find the time to get this done as you want... oh, and, strange.....! best of luck!

I've probably repainted the sister's face about 1000 times? I didn't know it would be so hard to draw expressions from imagination.

Oh wow man! This is really coming along beautifully. Please keep going!

Well you probably learnt a lot from the 1000 mistakes :D It can get really frustrating, but it's better when you don't get it right the first time:thumbsup:
Oh... expressions can be somewhat difficult because the changes are often so subtle in the muscles and features of the face. But you did a really good job.

Hehe strange it is and very nice colors and facial expressions :-) You did a late entrance in this challenge but there's lot of time left. Will follow your progress! And thanks for stopping by my thread.

May the force be with you ...

thank you for your comments!
i just got criticized by a friend of mine, telling me the colors i use are too monocromatic and the actual composition would have too much space. he said the cropped version (sister maid (which becomes mother, now that the other characters vanish) is better.

and he is right.
the current version on my pc looks so much nicer!
i will update as soon as i can.

This is the result if someone like Kicek criticizes my work... Thank you very much =)

As you can see I worked on the colors. The earlier versions were too monochromatic, which I actually think was not the major problem. What really disturbed me was that my coloration was too smudgy at some spots. I fixed it.

Story:
This illustration shows a little boy with his family at dinner. It is not an ordinary family, they are noble. However the little boy is something special, because he does not behave as stiff and nobly as we could expect. He plugs two straws in his nose and tries to suck his drink through the straws.
His mother tells him not to do that with a slight sigh and a smile as many times before.

Comment:
Finally I've finished this illustration and I'm quite confident. It first started out very roughly but with your critiques the visualization of my idea has become more and more clear. I noticed that I could interprete my illustration in a different way too.
That strange action is actually just another normal behavior if you consider that the boy is just a little child that tries the live the way he wants to.
He lives out his natural desires. But the ones that consider him to be strange are the noble, although they are actually the ones that behave strangely with those strict rules of behavior that make sense. Oh well, it's getting messy! I think I better stop here.

At last I want to thank everyone who has helped me with their useful comments!

You did a great job in capturing the moment. Also you did a nice job at making the family seem noble without exaggerating it. I think it's the neatness of the clothing and atmosphere. Very crisp and tidy. I think we have a little predicament though... where is the rest of the woman's body??:curious:
