View Full Version : Script Manager - can it load previously-saved user scripts?

Hi folks,

I realize we can paste code into the Script Manager, but once we save some scripts and they've shown up in the User Scripts menu, is there no way to load them back into the Script Manager? It seems like a pretty common desire would be to load up an existing script to do a little editing and then save it as a new script. I cannot see how this can be accomplished, short of manually copying all of the text from the script window and saving it away myself so that it will be available to paste back into the Script Manager at a later date. But that's a very tedious and error-prone process, certainly not very Maxon-ish. I've also tried dragging scripts from the content browser into the Script Manager, but that doesn't seem to work either.

Anybody know the deal with this? Per-Anders? Thanks.

At the moment, I'm referring to C4D 10.111, although 10.5 is due here tomorrow. :)

Every script you saved is stored in the \library\scripts folder. Scripts from the folder are available from the scrpit drop down in the script manager. Simply Choose the script you want to edit and it will show in the editor.

Thanks, Björn! When I first went in, Save As Template must have been the only script I had, so it wasn't clear that it was even a drop-down list. I had checked the Help documentation, but it does not say anything at all about the drop-down list. I was expecting something with a Browse button or file selector so I could open scripts that weren't already in my library. It seems that I'll need to place scripts into the library folder hierarchy in the O/S first if I want to edit them in the Script Manager. Thanks again for the assistance.

or use the import command to import any script not located in the script folder.
