I've done some tests with the latest diTools.
Here're some examples:

Very nice images--particularly the first three.

It's amazingly generous of Remotion to offer such a powerful suite of plugins for free. It seems to be in perenial beta, though, so maybe one day he'll ask for some money for all his hard work.

Thanks -
Btw, I think he's working on the new release because the 0.89 have several new improvements and differs from the 0.88.
For example the Number Shader, the Vertex Map Deformer and so on.

Grazie ThirdEye ;)

this is one of my favourite plugins...i can while away literally hours and totally enjoy myself messing about.....i would recommend everybody to play about with ditools.

(by the way never even thought to ask but is there any documentation knocking about for it in english? beginning to want to expand my tinkering and maybe use it a bit more productively than i currently do...i've seen some stuff mdme_sadie always seems to be messing with it and comes up with some neat stuff...i seem to have missed...thanks)

and i'm surprised there is no fee...but then when i initially started using i don't think i would have bought it....but now i got it and have used it...i would definitely cough up some bucks for an excellent piece of software...hats off to remotion.

ok sorry guys..me being silly here...i know early versions of ditools didn't have a doc...but now its in the zip file...called reference...so thats sorted.

probably a really dumb questions but here goes:
i've been going through this this morning...and it mentions something called diformer...am i missing something...but i can't see this anywhere (i got dicloner, dishaper, displinegen, parmetrik and tessa (i got DiTools V0.88 [Beta 5] as far as i can tell)
can anybody help me resolve my stupidity...thanks guys for being patient!!

You're right flingster.
DiFormer isn't more available - even if you can read about it in the pdf (it was written for the previous DiTools releases).
Btw, DiShaper it's a good replacement for DiFormer and it should be better for that kind of distortions.

Phoenixart,

Is 0.89 out? I went to the Remotion site and only found 0.88.

Thank you, and the examples are quite delicious.

Thanks Cris -
You can ask for it to the author.
Btw, I don't know if it can be redistributed ... in that case I could send it to you.

Very nice work. I wondered if it was possible to produce those type of James Widegreen/Gmunk images in C4d and this is a great example of it.

Is there any chance you could distribute the scene files or write a tutorial please? I'd be prepared to pay for them via paypal if you're interested.

Cheers

hi Phoenixart and all other DiTools-fans:wavey:

I made a link to your really pretty DiTools-pics in a german forum, that has a special theme "DiTools" since some weeks.
I hope you agree.
We are very lucky, that even Remotion is participating (sometimes..:hmm: ) There are some people gathered, testing the actual, not yet distributed version. Perhaps youŽll find some experiments there you are intersted in.
Cheers,
Gunter

so sorry, Kaiskai.
This example made by +tom+ needs DiTools 0.9 with a special modul called "Contourfinder". It produces splines automatically on an object at the bright/dark transition of a texture. The texture in this example was animated and thus producing the lines. Working with it is an adventure. Hope, Remotion will release 0.9 or 1 soon.
Cheers,
Gunter

hi flingster,
sorry for translation-problems:hmm:
All this you mentioned is stuff of version 0.9.
DiSurface-painter just paints any object in the hierarchy under this module onto the target-object very easily and in different, selectable or random sizes (e.g by pressure of a pen)

Actually, after I was looking at all of these and looking at DiTools, I was thinking that myself. Wanting to see scene files and, just as important, tutorials as a I was overwhelmed by all the different bits of input in the gui.

I would love to see something like this.

Thank you, and, yes, I will contact the author as you suggest.

Yep, sample scenes would be invaluable. I can figure out most of the problems that I've faced with C4D, but DiTools is quite frustrating. I'd love to see it boxed, for sale, with a good printed manual and a disc with sample scenes.

Totally agree Gunter ;)
thanks for the linkage.
Btw, the DiPoly qt seems really interesting!

Give me your email address and I'll send you the source files.
About the abstract stuff, I think that the matter isn't different then other 3D stuff such as modeling, texturing and so on. I mean that Cinema is surely a very handy and practical 3D package to create any kind of 3D work - thanks to its very good GUI and its learning curve. C4D it's better to me then other software such as 3DMax because I've found the Max interface frustrating. Of course I don't want start a flame here, this is only my thought.
But, Cinema or not, the abstract images need more then the only 3D software - and however a good 3D package knowledge. There's a lot of work to do with Illustrator and Photoshop and, even if DiTools are very helpful to experiment, almost the 50% of the work have to be done within bmp and vector packages.

About the tutorials: I don't write them because my english (as you can see) is really poor.
However here's one old tut.:

its basically a cog wheel spline with a very low inner radius and a very high outer radius along with a heavy deformed hn-cube in the dicloner
