I just started trying out painter and theres this strange glitch where if I create a new layer I lose pressure sensitivity on that layer. But when I go back to the original canvas layer the pressure is normal again.

I tried using the brush tracking but there isn't any difference made with the new layer.

Im using a tablet pc under windows vista. Im not sure if that as anything to do with the glitch but I assume it's a Vista bug or something to do with preferences in painter.

Has anyone else encountered a problem like this?

If you are loosing pressure sensitivity, do you mean you can't put any kind of brushstroke on the layer? If that's the case. Check the preserve transparency button on top of the layers palette, click it on and off. It's an old, much repeated and discussed bug.

If this is not the case, someone else is going to have to answer. It would help if you gave a little more detailed explanation of the problem.

I don't know if this helps at all or if it's anywhere near the solution to your problem but when you use specific medium (pens or feltpens usually) and create a new layer Painter automatically changes the type of the layer into Gel. You have to change it back to Normal.
I don't think it's a glitch..

I was just about to post with the exact problem (though I'm using WinXP), but thanks to Tom's suggestion it's been solved. I toggled the transparency box on then off, now my brushes work on the new layer!

Thanks, Tom!!

That must be a Corel bug then because my Painter 6 installation doesn't have it, sometimes that happens when a pop-up message from an im or a program loads on the background and Painter gets out of focus and I lose pressure sensitivity but it's just a matter of alt+tabbing to bring focus back to Painter and control+Z the deadweight brushes strokes :)

Ya, I think your right, It didn't happen in IX.5, just a new thing in X.
