CGTalk - tracing problems

I thought i found the perfect app for my project,
and it would be ... if anybody can tell me how to make the source movie visible
(i can barely see anything with it in that "ghost" mode)

and it would be cool to be able to draw on a transparent layer instead of the one with the white background.

please help me if possible

You can adjust the transparency of the tracing paper in version X, I don't remember in Painter IX or IX5. I think not.

There is a toggle in the upper right side of the image frame above the grid button. Click and hold you curser over it. You'll get a dropdown with different opacities. Click on the one you find appropriate and you got it.
