View Full Version : Looping Final Gathering Render??
Ariel 04-08-2003, 05:08 AM I am rendering a character turntable using Final Gathering with the rebuild map option disabled. This sequence is supposed to be used as a loop, so my question is: once the last frame hooks up with the first frame, am I going to notice a "jump" in the lighting? If so, what's the best way to fix this?

I would render the animation first. if there is a "jump" between the first and last frame then render a few extra frames at the end of the animation. Then blend those frames with the first ones using the FX-Tree.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've heard a lot about rebuilding vs not rebuilding the FG map. In my case the camera and lights are not moving. The only motion is the model with all of its parts parented to a null, rotating along the Y axis, basically spinning in place.
In this case is it better to use or not use rebuild?
Thanks again.

By the way, after looking at my render this morning, i noticed a shadow that stays in place in the floor plane of the scene, even when the model and the floor plane itself are rotating. Is this an indication that i should rebuild the map?

Yes, you need to rebuild the FGMap.

If you rotate the camera around the model you will not need to rebuild the FG map. Just use a circle as a path for the camera.
Laurence.
