View Full Version : Lava Lamp Lighting & Texturing
Silmar 04-08-2003, 03:26 AM Hi guys,
Im in the process of creating a lava lamp however have become a tad stuck on the texturing and lighting. I have tried using video post glow effect but it looks rather naff. Also tried creating an spot light at the base of the glass but again a no go.
Any ideas or pointers?
Thankie All

What version of Max?
And can you mention why the glow did'nt work?
Anyway, I'd probably start with a raytrace material type(more parameters), and use some sort of rediculous procedural texture.
Lots of falloff maps, some self illumination, luminosity, extra lighting, and of course, some glow effects.
But if you have Max R5, then there are some more options available.

Version 5.1 3dz, I currently have the blobs a nice colour using a red cell material tutorial I found on the net, it was using a lot of falloffs. What I really want is a nice luminous green which radiates its own colour.

Yeah I got that working but the effect is not what I really want. I am looking for something similar in this thread

Also I can get a really nice effect on a material using a few falloffs but as soon as I add a light to the scene they go dim
