Splutterfish has posted some samples of the new 3d motion blur for version 2.0 of Brazil R/S. Cool stuff!

its stuff like this that makes me happy that i've invested my money in brazil 1.0..knowing 2.0 is gonna be even better

Same here. If there's one thing that I know about the Splutterfish developers it's that they tend to take the time to do things correctly the first time. And coming from a production background, they tend to think along the lines of the end user as well as think far ahead.

i can see brazil being the lead renderer in the future for max..already displays awesome capabilities...2.0 will probably blow everyone away

Now I'm finally sold on Brazil. ;)

Very swish...

Expect to see a lot of rotor blades being rendered now :)

I wonder what the render times are like?

Very cool. Would be interested in render times, too. I'm impressed with the way Splutterfish is doing things. They seem to have a finger on the pulse, so to speak. Puts me closer and closer to buying Brazil.

Great 3d technology! I wonder what the render settings were used for the test scenes, render times, numbers of photons and etc. I want to try a similar blur effect with YafRay, but without the rendered blurs, composite blurs of course. Brazil renders are always exciting to see.

it is too early yet to release any render times.

trolldeg, what is your objection to brazil dof as it is? (curious)

render times would be of interest...theres so many things many renderers can do at 640x480 but would take way to long to render at decent res' that make traditional workarounds a must

You have a point, but at the same time, render times are misleading when a product is in development and the code hasn't been optimized. That said, don't be surprised if it's fast - the Splutterfish guys have delivered in the past with very fast DOF, area lights/shadows, GI, etc. Just about every major component of Brazil is highly optimized for speed.

Maybe I'm not using it right, but I think it's damn slow... and it darkens the picture a bit. The DOF in fR I recall as being much faster...

You think FR is quick on DOF?? Try VRay, it's several times faster and GI capabilities are amazingly fast also. Not to mention interpolated soft refleksions/refractions, soft shadows,....

I know that photon based lighting tools are popping up everywhere for various 3d apps. And "censored", are you affiliated with SplutterFish? I don't know what the workflow and settings are like for Brazil, but I have found tuning photons to be a difficult task. I turn down the samples on the renders for testing the light setup to speed preprocessing up. But my understanding of the photon tuning process is still foggy. Although with much effort I have been able to get some amazing results for my 3d renders in a very short time compared to using duplicated soft lighting arrays.
Is photon lighting application specific or do the same tuning principals apply for all apps that use photon lighting? In basic 3d lighting a spotlight is a spotlight, etc. I am also glad that Brazil will be a seperate app. Iv'e heard that the Brazil software price is reasonable arround $2000 or so ? I also wonder if it will allow external access to it's render engine via simple scripts like python.

-(Blame the Blender community, those techkids have my head swimming with more 3d tech than I need to know. The scary thing is that it's starting to make since to me!)
