hello!!

those are some d@mn sensual lips... I really want to know how they would feel. And I'll kiss you for painting them :)

However I think the head became a little to wide... especially the cheeks. This makes the head seem a little unbalanced (whatever you do keep the lips the way they are!) and the body as well. And slightly darker eyes will pull the viewer is more... but I gather the irises are wip and are going to be darkened up already.
I think this is going to be a frontpager... so keep at it and give it the time it deserves.

And let me say the obvious... it is very alluring to me! :D

edit: and about the background... I envision some Ivy, or if you don't want to go with that I think it best to let is be something confined but light, like a chinese kind of papery wall... or the Ivy or a hedge in a labyrinth garden... something like that

Cheers!

I must agree with Matsman, they are some damn fine lips (and the eyes are pretty fine too!)
I am not sure I agree about the face shape though, the cheeks help to give her a young child like quality. Not everyone is a size 10 etc. This is already a stunner.

A garden type romantic background would be nice or possibly a minimal suggestion of a simple modern room with some light pouring in gently from the right?

beautiful

And I won't suggest anything for the hair because the words Toni and Guy suggest you have this all in hand ;o)

Thanks for the replies guys!!

Matsman: haha Yeah the lips were very important to me to get right and very sensual. So I am very glad I pulled this off! :D About the face...it looks a tad bit wide but Im not going to change this...instead I will be later pulling in the hair more which will...i think balance it out in the end.

Pookytheloon: Thank you thank you! I like the idea of the garden background that you guys suggested...ill see what I can come up with on that. Of course the hair will be last because ill be putting lots of curls and details in there! lol And yes i suppose i do have an advantage working for TONI AND GUY haha! :scream:

The face is gorgeus! I love how it's looking so far.
I agree with matsman about the eyes.
I can't wait to see it finished :)

Very nice indeed ! You've got a real "loose oil paint" feel going here that you shouldn't lose. I think that her left pupil is a bit off center in her iris, and the shadow on the botttom left of her nose needs to be smoothed just a tad. On the larger scale I think her shoulder anatomy is off somehow. But these are minor crits and if you keep going like this it will definitely be top page.

Hey NerdyNinja! :D

Good job so far! I especially love those eyes and lips...cute nose as well.

I have to disagree with the others regarding the face. I don't think it is too wide. Looks natural to me. As everyone knows, faces come in all shapes and sizes. :) Her face will definitely look even better as you develop this more.

The one thing that does seem off is the body. I really think you should correct the body proportions first before moving on with this area. It appears that the body is too small for her neck and head. Women in general do have smaller frames, but I think it is a bit too small in this case.

Anyway, keep up the good work!

Thanks a lot everyone for your crits and compliments! :)

VincereCaos: Thank you very much...ill be working on the eyes some more for sure!

DArcy1: ill be checking out the anatomy on her lower half and see what i find. lol On the nose shadow you are absolutely right! ill get on that! Thanks for stopping by you are always a big help!

Jedi-Juice: Thanks for the crits! Glad you like the drawing. For her I was actually drawing it out more stylized in the beginning...like with the uber small waist and such...but since I have been coloring it ..i may change it to be more realistic..

Splotch: Thank you! Ill be checking on that eye again!

Thank you again everyone...I also wanted to announce that this artwork will be published in an upcoming and new spanish magazine called Zoe Culture! Im so excited!!!

looks really good so far. which brushes are you using to paint with?

nerdyninja
10-05-2007, 07:06 PM
Just regular brushes...between the hard and the soft edge brushes with the wacom set at pen pressure. Then I also blend with the smudge tool using scattering and have it at 35% flow. THEN lol I also use the blur tool everyonce in awhile...and that is all that i use. Thanks for checking out my work!

hi celine! :p this is amazing! her eyes .. her lips  really cool! .. you were wondering about the background .. well .. i think a warm grey tone will work wonders! in fact her looks will pop out even more! ... i've attached 3 files that show a grey bluish or grey yellowish background and how the model's looks really draws attention :p

me can't wait to see this complete! very beautiful!! :bounce: :buttrock:

good luck dear! cheers!

Oh wow!!! That's amazing. Love the coloring and blending. Very expressive eyes.
I find that the right eye is a bit smaller than the left, or maybe her cheeks are a bit too wide and makes the eyes smaller.
Be carefull as well her left sholder, cause the linedrawing looks at the moment that is a bit too small in contrast with the head. As well, her neck is a bit too fat for teh rest of the body, or maybe what it needs is to have some more exageration between the neck and her shoulders.
As for a background, I could see nothing more than just a texture colored one like in portraits, as nwiz25 suggested above.

Is an excellent work so far, can't wait for more updates. Keep it up! :)

The color of her eyes just knocks me out...I love it! There have been quite a few good suggestions already, so I'll just say...keep it up, you're on a nice track. The finished item should be marvelous.

hey nerdy, glad to see your work finally posted up and wow this piece is very impressive my friend  the lips are sweet and seductive and the eyes a totally dreamy and I wouldn't darken them just neaten it up and perhaps soften it abit to keep with the Candyfloss feel that get from the rest of pic.
great work and kepp us posted on any updates.:)

Great work.

Curve the eye brow a bit.

I think a variant of green for the background might be nice, to go with the eyes.

heey, hope you're still working on this! It has some really great potential. The lips and her right eye are really staggering.

Couple things I noticed: Her right shoulder is disconnected from her body. In this pose, the inside of the shoulder is not a direct line down the arm, but rather we see the whole line of the neck sloping down. I googled 'arms crossed' and found this a couple pages in. Just imagine her with her head turned, and you'll see what I mean.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v109/staticpen/Misc/paa418000026.jpg

And yeah, what people have been saying about her left eye is true. You can see that you've painted somewhat of a 3/4 portrait here, but the inner-most tips of both eyes line up at the same edges of the nose. The perspective here would cause the eye furthest from us to sneak back behind the nose a bit. I've taken a photo to show you what I mean.

Keep up the great work! I really hope to see this finished.

Well it's about time ! :scream: I like where this pose is going, but I think her right shoulder is a bit narrow, and drawn forward just a bit too far. No more 6 months between updates !

haha tongue lashing taken!!! I know i know! :D lol

you are right about the shoulders I was thinking either fix the shoulders or make the rest of the arms to match the shoulder. It would be easier just to fix the shoulder though. LOL Oh yeah i also changed the bkg color thanks to the suggestion of neville! So for sure either update today or tomorrow. YEAH!

you cant finish now theres alot of colur you used in the face and not the rest of the body ..no highlights no more of that rosey pink in the face and upper right shoulder...please dont end there especially if you want to put it in the final gallery.

Artists can "finish" a work at anytime they choose. The artist is the one to determine when a work is "done." Sometimes it just looks done, sometimes, the artist is tired of working on it, or tired of looking at it. Heck. look at any speedpaint image...

Every creation carries it's lesson. This thread started 10 Months ago!!! It's been 2 1/2 months since the last update!!!
I think nerdyninja did a wonderful job of coming back to this piece, working on it a bit more, and then "officially" declaring it "done." Many WIPs in this form never get that declaration, they are merely abandoned...
While there are still improvements that can be made, there are also many images yet to be created. Time to move on, this image has served its purpose and taught its lessons...

Celine, this really has come quite a long way from your original post last October. I hope you enjoyed the process and learned things to apply to your next image.

Lynch: Thank you so much and you are correct as well as CybrGfx. I just cant keep working on it anymore. You know the more things I learned from it the more i got more and more ideas!! lol So I am actually posting a new image later today that I am working on! hope you all check it out! OH yeah I am really bad about actually finishing pieces so ....i have to say it is always nice to see it be done. haha thanks everyone!

Cyber is right, only the artist can decide when it's done. Although in this case I agree with you, it is done. For me everything else is secondary to those eyes - you wouldn't want any extra details in the elbow distracting you from that focal point . Great job! Cna't wait for the next one :-)
