View Full Version : Demo Reel Lighting
TheDarkestSeraph 10-04-2007, 06:22 AM Hello. I was curious If anybody had some tips on lighting a model for a demo reel. I know little about lighting except for basic 3 point set ups.

whats the model of?
If you have the time, using final gather or GI works well with modeling reels.

You should check out how to light with a HDRI map, its an easy way to get things to look pretty sweet. Requires FG though, so it will take time to render but looks much better than just a simple skylight+FG

Thank you both for the responses. I was trying Final Gathering, But I was coming up with wierd artifacts on my model. The normals appear to be hard and light is catching much harsher on individual faces. Any idea how to fix this?http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g221/thedarkestseraph/JON_FG_MR.jpg

yeah I also think it might have something to do with normals. I remembered I used a non tangent space normalmap, and while rendering it out in maya it just ****ed up the render completely. That could also the case here.
u don't have like 2 meshes in eachoter?:P I'm just asking.
Ya never know. But 2 meshes on eachother woul also give serious artifacts
