Pretty groovy robot--I like it! But those feet! He looks like he's wearing house slippers!

I like it. only comment is that the joints are articulated on the whole model until you reach the fingers. try spliting the fingers into seperate objects at each joint... like the arm is made up of different piece that come together at the joints.

Hey, thanks guys! Yep, gonna fix the feet and fingers. I appreciate it. I'll post an update in a bit. Here's another bot I'm working on.

its looking good.....if there was anything i would still tinker with is the hands......they look too small compared to everything else...they also seem too boxy compared to the curves of the rest of the robot.....keep it up

(1st one at the top)

Cool!

Needs a telescoping neck.

My only critique would be that it looks a bit top heavy in the torso. Mabe shorten the torso?

or not...

Looks great! They are different than the usual robot menu. Perhaps some textures on the first to give it some persoanlity and depth?

Grrrrr.....it's a bit sporatic for me. sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not. hmmmm.......

Thanks for everyone's help. I'm gonna make these changes tonight.

Thanks vestan, yep, it's not textured properly yet. Another thing I'm gonna work on. I'm glad that it's working for you now. :bounce:

oooh more robots :)

that first one is looking cool, kind of like a classier c3po kind of thing, not sure about the hands though, perhaps bigger with joints as fred pointed out, perhaps add seems as well on the torso to give it a manufactured look, similar to the arms, looking good so far though

Here's an update. I've done almost everything you guys suggested, I think. Now that it's been rendered, I see lots of stuff I want to change. But, alas, it's late here and I want to go to bed. So this is the latest installment of my first wip forum post. I don't think I like the shoes.

oh yea, the head definately isn't final. it's "filler head". The feet are to small. Upper arm needs work. LOTS of detail work to sort out. Anything else?

Here's the latest update to this robot. I'm going to start adding details like hoses, wires, mechanics, etc. now unless you guys have any other suggestions. Time to start working on the head too.

Thanks for all your suggestions. They have really made a difference, I think.

this is looking cool, at the moment I really like the simplicity of the bots head, so don't over do the detailing, maybe a seam here and there like on the body, I'd keep wires and things around the joints :)

Thanks guys, squid, you're right about the head, I was thinking of keeping it pretty basic, I too like the simplicity of it. Glad to hear confirmation of my thoughts. Thanks Fred, your idea for the fingers was great. I was really jazzed when I saw how they were turning out as I was working on them.

The dark blue accent color on the finger looks really nice. I would look into incoporateing it more into the rest of the model. maybe the edge and center indents on the are and leave the other 2 strips grey... or something like that.

Thanks Fred, that's a great idea. I'm definately going to do that. :bounce:

Dan this is looking really good. One thing I just noticed is his thumb. He won't be able to hold things very well with a thumb like that. It needs to be able to come down into the palm of his hand in order for it to work right.

Hmmmm....yea, I see what you mean. I wonder how I would fix that. Any suggestions??
