View Full Version : Need help with clips in MotionBuilder!!!
jkrichmond 09-30-2007, 10:33 PM Im having an issue with blending clips. I have four clips from four seperate files using the same character that I need to blend together. Two of the clips do not animate when I import them into a character track. The other two work fine. The two that dont work causes the character to slightly rotate to the position it starts with on the clip, but remain in a static "T" pose. I notice that if I apply any of the clips to one of the characters that come with the motion builder clip art cd, that it gives the same results. I made all four clips from the same character file, but it seems (at least to me) that the four clips are behaving as though they were from two seperate characters. Ive been trying everything I could think of for about six hours, and I can't quite get all four clips to play in the same file. Can someone give me a hand here?

i'll try to help...
(I'm assuming you're using 7.5)
when drag a clip into the Viewer, choose 'All takes'. Then bring in your other 3 clips before doing anything else. Do this by choosing File>import>choose your proper .fbx files. I found that I had to import to get the actions to get them on the same skeleton.
You will have a default clip in the Motion Blend window which says 'No Models'. Hold spacebar and RMB a skeleton's hip joint. The entire skeleton should turn green. With motion builder Keyboard Controls > you must Alt + LMB drag the skeleton into the clip area.
Then hit Insert Clip 3 more times. You should be able to choose the proper action for each of these new clips on a drop down menu. Then hit 'Reset All Cuts'. You should be on your way to Motion Blending. This works for me, but I might need for info about your files or method if you're still having trouble. Good luck!
