I know that widescreen is a 16/9 ration but what resolution should I use for pal television so that the pixels won't distort, any answers is much appreciated!

Cheers

I'm guessing:

PAL = 720 x 576
therefore widescreen 16/9 = 720 x 405

Then just render with a pixel ratio of 1.067 and everything should be hunky-dory

heres a few more ranging from lowest quality up to highest quality. The pixel aspect ratio setting is the one to look out for.

720 x 405 and a pixel aspect of 1.0 (square pixel)
720 x 576 and a pixel aspect of 1.422 (rectangular pixel)
1024 x 576 and a pixel aspect of 1.0 (square pixel)

If you are short on time then you can use the lowest setting. If you get any strange sampling issues with pixel crawl then the higher setting may be worth it. At all stages when you are working in photoshop making graphics or titles for video (Not texture mapping) then you'll have to use the first or last size - the reason being that photoshop can only work in square pixel - if you use a non square pixel image size then your logos and type will look distorted. Apparently they're adding in pixel aspect support in photoshop 8 but I can't confirm this.

Cheers,

John
