View Full Version : Independent Game - Help Wanted
Raven_TK 04-10-2002, 05:43 AM I am the team leader of an independent game called FireStorm (www.fire-storm.net), a futuristic multiplayer First Person Shooter. We currently have a team of 6, all with industry experience.
Basically, right now, I’m looking for a few great 3d modelers who can model low poly (5000-7000) characters, and/or create cover quality images. Also, an excellent coder who can help with some consultation, but that depends if there are any of you on this board :).
Let me just say it straight out right now that we do not, yet, have funding; we are working on finishing up a presentation that we will present to investors in hopes to receive funding for full-scale production.
Detailed information about the gameplay etc... is available on request.
If you are interested, please, send an e-mail to raven@fire-storm.net along with some work samples (links please, no attachments) and if possible, an up-to-date résumé.
Thanks for your time! :wavey:

Uh, I have a few doubts : 6000 to 7000 polys per characters seems to be very high, especially for a multiplayer game.
My 2 cents

Considering the new wave of unreal can push about 5000-6000 I don't think its to much out of the question.
Consider a year of production time as well.

But can your engine code handle that much polys ? (I don't want to be a jerk, I'm just curious ! :) )

Probably going to use Unreal actually, it all depends on funding ;)

It's always good fun to try this stuff out. I hope you are able to use the unreal engine , but if you have 500,000 $$ for the lisence you would probebly be a REAL game studio. None the less when you guys have something to show like level and models please post again I think it would be good to keep up with ambitious projects

Lol yah, well, we arn't the real steel, not yet... In actuality, the Unreal engine will be used for the proof of concept demo, makes things faster than coding a whole new 3d engine.
RE updates: We are going to go public (website wise) within the next 3-4 weeks, I will be sure to post here, and maybe see if the CGC staff can get us some news coverage :).
Well I am a 3D modler with alot of time on my hands and Ive been working full time with a company doing 3d animation for the past 2 years in commercial and industrial animation (boring). I do my own character animation on the side and Id love to do some character modeling for game development . So if you need an extra guy I would love to help out with what i can.

I think you guys are on the right track, with your artwork. I would love to help out but I just this week signed my own Lucrative contract to do a fantasy futuristic game. I have to check out you site to see how your project progresses.
Good Luck

guys this is another good luck post.
doing a massive multiplayer game is one of the thing i've always wanted to do...but i wont participate to this project for lots of reasons (the first would be that im a 16 years old student....). but i hope u guys are gonna finish this project. And because it's seems to be developped by great guys i'm sure it's gonna be great. And if u can get the new Unreal Engine im sure its gonna kick asses.
One tip i'd just say to you ( but im sure u already know that) , is to try to get the game with a really great gameplay. A quasi perfect control and mood. I know it seems stupid but lots of game arent real good cause of that. Counter-strike is good ...but not perfect.tribes 2 as good graphics but having to jetpack during 30 min is just boring...
I hope ur gonna use lots and lots of beta tester cause those games need so much tweaking..... i think i could make a list of thousant things i dont like in some mp games..... anyway i can't wait to see the update on ur site. And more and more you seems to be from canada..... and im form montreal.... and it would be good to have a great game compagny in my country.
