View Full Version : character: cartoon style head
this is a wip of a charcter I'm making for my first short. He is not textured yet and obviously he has no body. I hope to have the body mostly done within a week or so. I don't have that much time to work on him so it will be slow going. Anyway tell me what you think. If anyone is intrested I will upload a wire and/or a differnt view. No plugin were used and it is a stright max scanline render.
Anyway were it is. i would love some comments/crits.

wow nice style, very cool ;) i think you don't need a lot of texture. It'd be better to keep a clean style for that char.

Wow thanks for all the support. Such fast resonses to
I'm thinking the texture will proubably stay pretty simple just some tone changes and what not. Do you think I will even really need much of a bump map?? I'm not sure what I would really make bumpy hehe. I guess I'll wait until the rest of the body is done to texture anyways so I have got a while to think it over.
So how is the body going to look... well he is going to be arking forward (cheast out) naked except for a tie (ties into my plot for the short he will be used in). He will be pretty skinny and his legs and arms are gradually going to get bigger towards the feet and hands so that the hands and feet become rather bulbous and playful looking. I have him all drwn out but don't have a scanner. If I get a chance I will use my schools sometime this week and post the image.
Thanks again everybody it is great to hear from such an enthusastic crowd. Keep the comments/crits coming
Finally here is a wire and 3/4 view Takisan. This is the base cage unmeshsmoothed.

Funny funny guy, and very original. A small crit would be widen the socket around the eyeball so that the spherical mass of the eyeball becomes more defined. I'm looking forward to seeing this one finished.

WOw adam, that looks great, even the composition is great, very well lit aswell, the sparce ammount of hair is a great touch, I like how smooth he is I am not even sure you need much of a texture, maybe just one for a slight variety in color, mouth region is great. I cant wait till you finish the body. -Jeremy-

Hehe, looks absolutely awsome, bro. Very nice work.
Took about 39 seconds just looking at his ear. I must say, that it's very well modeled.
Again, good deal.

Hi,
I like it. Nice modeling..ears are great,,,
nikola
hey thanks again everyone for the comments/crits! Im glad you guys think the ear is good I spent a long time on it. God I hate modelling ears!!!
Wetterschneider, you might be right about the eye socket but I think I will leavem it for the moment and maybe come back to it after the rest of the body is done.
If anyone is intrested I can give you guys a brief layout of the short he will be used in (currently unnamed).
Anyway sorry there is no updates yet I will try to work on him and my next post will include some new progress.

I got the back and cheast mostly done. It still needs some tweaking. The back needs a little work and I plan on adding the serratus muscles and refine the ribs with some detaul. Anyway comment away!!!
