bot stands for "block order texture"
when maya prepares to render all image files are made into bot format
it has to do with the way the texture is held in memory.
bot holds multiple tile sixes of the same image and maya loads the one best suited for the screen size it take up
If you have a crap load if textures for a scene you can speed up the render some buy convert them to bot format
(a crap load is hundreds)
O buy the way if you use texture formats other then .iff or .rgb maya converts those and if i cant read it you get this
// Error: Image conversion (to IFF) failed //
Render Diagnostics check texture format, are there lights in the scene, is your clipping plane set correctly etc........
