Title: Corpse Bride Victor
Name: John Juarez
Country: USA
Software: Photoshop, XSI

I modeled this for practice after seeing the Corpse Bride. I wanted to try modeling a very stylized character who is still based in reality, i.e. was made of physical materials. Polygon modeling, and mental ray with final gathering used to render.
Comments welcome.

Bravo, John. Always great to see artists using xsi! I'd love to see more!
As a Softimage xsi new user, can I ask you how long it took you to get the mesh made?

Thanks, I'm terrible at keeping track of how long I work on a model. I think this was about 3-4 evenings to create the mesh. I found plenty of reference material which helps. The most difficult part was the shaders to get that latex over plastic look for the head, and a nice scale cloth look to the garments. Doing render previews with a transparent object with high frost and samples is not fun.

great job. looks a lot like the "victor". maybe putting his eyelids and fixing the eyebrows then adding a little colder light might improve it.

Thanks for the answer, John!
LOL at the render previews...I sorta know what you mean but it was worth the effort, wasn't it? :) Can't wait to see more!
