hi guys,

i wanna do some animations (perhaps a short film)

well what i really need are plants

the case is:
should I model everything by hand
or is there a fine plugin with manages and generates these???

I tried "tree-maker 5.0" but it isn´t as good as i would wish
(want realistic one)

for gras I wait for shave and a haircut (also for hair)

Maya has a good (really good) solution for those things...
but I don´t wanna change....

I not sure about trees and stuff, but for grass, there are a couple of tutorials that are pretty good. Try these.

sorry writing in german ;)

hmmm Shag Hair schonmal probiert?

scatter tool would be a good choise you will have total control on the amount of grass you want. shag hair could do great results too.

about the trees, you could model like 5 of them and use scatter too. just a thought

Hey Neox,
I would also like to now the name of the "tree-making-tool" - it would be nice.

Neox

the name is speedtree :)
a lot of games are using the same technique to create trees :)

thank you all...

(vor allem dir Neox)

speedtree has got much more potential than treemaker...

But I really don´t know if it is as good as i want to have it...
because I want to aim realism (not 100%) but
a large-realistic-touch

(probably, I want too much.. )

here is the homepage (gallery) of speedtree:

if you want realism, then model the tree and place the leaves by hand :D

I have found that X-Frog rulez:eek:

Its an app for making trees, flowers, grasses simply anything from flora!

So you create some trees, import them to Max and your are done. It can even import windy animations from Xfrog (when using xfr file import plugin not DXF or 3ds format)

Check this link:

Not at all Xaya:beer:

Just dont be too happy cos the meshes of trees will knock your system on knees:eek:

I think that Greenworks offer optimalization soft too which I guess should go in hand with X-Frog otherwise you plant less trees than you got fingers on your hands:D

Hey, that's really cool! I like the twisting structure you have. The branch ends are a bit thick, it sort of looks like a clay model.

Could you describe how you modeled it?

It's a little off topic, but if Neox's tut helps....

Here's a link to Babblefish (http://www.babblefish.de/translate.php). It'll do translations of any webpage you enter a URL for. Of course, it won't do translations for any text in an image. And the translations aren't perfect. Sometimes it spits out garbage. But mostly it'll at least get you to a point that you can understand what the author is trying to get across.

Just go to the site, enter the URL for the page you want translated, and choose the language conversion (Neox's tut would be German to English).

Also, you ALL need to check out a script called "Advanced Painter 1.5.1" available at:

www.scriptspot.com

Best damn tool I've found in a while.

It has preset brushes for creating grass, stones, vines, and all sorts of things, as well as it allow you to "paint" a scatter of ranom geometry that you create.

It even has pressure sensitive controls for those of use with a wacom tablet.

Check it out, or die.

That is, only if you have Max 5.1

well,
nice to see that the link works.... and that you like the image

I started modeling this tree with a cylinder
done some notches with adding lines
modifiered with twist and bend

and finally moving/adding/connecting thousend of vertexes

the special think is that i used a displacement map
(i really didn´t know that it works so fine)

+ meshsmooth

that´s it

the grass is the first i ever did.... the arrangement is done with scatter (will change it)

will test "advanced painter"

Xaya

PS:without the grass I used no diffuse map

PPS:will open a wip thread next time :D
