Are there any Cinema 4d Bones and character animation tutorials out there? the few pages dedicated in the handbuch are not much and Iīm looking for something more that the "making the rat walk" tutorial.

I would like to read up on complex or simple things like bone constraints, where head bones are better placed and why, modifying IK goals or using Setdata to create sliders for bone movements.

I donīt have the Mocca module.

Thanks

Unfortunately for C4D not really. I can't velieve people feel that the mime tutorial was so useless, granted I would never build a whole rig like that, it does teach you how to do everything pretty much.

For advanced constraining and rigging, the best place to resort to I hate to say it are maya tutorials, and then translate them as best as possible into C4D. You'd be amazed with expresso, how comparable of a rig you can do, I still have yet to build one solid entire rig, but I have some arms and legs and head/neck/spine rigs that are similar to what I've looked at in maya. What I would really recommend you get if you want to get into advanced rigging, is JAson's MAYA DVD's from alias wavefront. Jason is a mod here, and an animator on lord of the rings, worked on some small creepy guy called gollum in LOTRII, and in LOTR 1 he animated the watcher. He covers more advanced techniques that while a lot of it is focused on maya, for example he makes a lot of expressions and such for maya, but but the ideas of where and what to constrain are really good, and you know they work, because thats what he used at weta.

OMG! I absolutely loved that smeegle guy, easely the best CG I've ever seen.

I was literally drooling over it, especially the close-ups and the impressive interaction between CG and real footage (falling rocks or the subtle clouds of dust when walking etc). I kept thinking what a massive work it must've been to get both sides intergrated so seemlessly.

Absolutely amazing...
