View Full Version : adding gooy saliva?
Hey all, I've included a capture still from disney's 'dinosaur' showing an example of somethig that I want to create in max. Anyone got any idea how I should go about doing this? It will need to expand as my character opens his mouth. My main concern is creating a texture that resembles slime, taking transparency and wetness into account. Also, how will I avoid texture stretching when the slime mesh expands. Perhaps it maybe sensible to add a proceural map instead? Any help is much appreciated.
p.s. apologise for the size, out of my hands.

Is this for a low-poly, or cinematic character?
If it's for low-poly, what you have displayed should work ok...sorta.
If it's high-poly, then instead of using a map, you really should use geometry.

That's from the egg-opening shot right?
Kind of a thick slime. We did something at Mondo Media awhile back for the Aliens vs Predators game cinematics. The aliens have that over-the-top running saliva. If was a particle system emitting from near the gums, using metaballs to produce the gloppiness. Then a nice transparent shader. Might work for your slime, if you slow down the particles.
metaparticles - yeah good idea, I'll give it a shot.
