View Full Version : Sketchbook Thread of Kiraamzsy
Kiraamzsy 09-25-2007, 04:15 AM I've been dabbling here and there while on vacation. I bought "Drawing on the right side of the brain" by Betty Edwards and have been working through that.
So I figured I would post a bit of my progress... or lack there of, who knows.
Any comments, suggestions and/or things to work on would be greatly appreciated.
*sorry for the quality of the pictures... on vacation, don't have a scanner*

Hi!
Your works(escpecially the ogreface and skull) are really showing huge potential. The only thing i could say is that maybe practicing some pure lineart would be good to get a more accurate feel for the shape of things. Also try being bolder in shading, contrast adds character to a picture. I`m noob myself so everything is imho)
Good luck with your studies=)
lol the Gorilla in the mirror... had a good laugh there (and if it's not meant to be a mirror but a window... argh!)
awesome concept!
you could even extend this concept into a series of "mirror drawings" and draw different funny characters
On the technical side, it looks like you are learning a lot with each drawing.
So keep drawing :)

NR43 - Not meant to be a mirror or a window :P Just a border. The rest of the book cover was all black.
Reaveress - Thanks for the comments. I agree, I should work on my lineart & shading... on second thought, I need to work on everything, lol.
In that case your drawing has inspired me to maybe work out this concept myself :D
Thanks for that!

Hi Derek, great start to a sketchbook. I like the linework in the portrait of the sitting man. In general it might be a good idea to learn some anatomy. The books of Loomis are very interesting ( there are free pdf-versions available on the internet). Keep going.
