Hi

I have a very stupid problem. I havent been working with MAX 5.0 for long yet and now probably simple problem has accured.

From max 4.2 I am used to see the map I´ve just worked on in the "Edit UVM" Mode so that I can adjust the cords to the map if nesseresary BUT now I cant see the assigned map. :wip: Hit me if you want to but cant figure it out how to gett it in there. When I render I can see the map on the model but not when I am working.

I can also see it in the viewport but not when I am changeing the uv´s.´I´ve tryed a few things ...

Please help :)

Howdy !

Your maps don't show up in the Unwrap, is that your problem ?
If so, look up in the option toolbar of the Unwrap mod, there is a spinner labelled "brightness" and that might be why your maps don't show up.

If what mouj says doesnt work try opening up the material editor and clicking the 3 dimensional checker box. But also if that is clicked and you still don't see the mesh then you may want to look at you rmodifier stack. Make sure your uvw modifier is selected in the stack or that the area you are working on in the stack precedes the uvw modifier.

Now if this doesnt work just fiddle with moving your meshsmooth and uvw modifier swaping them back in forth. Sometimes your meshsmooth has to be stacked on top of the uvw mod for it to work. Don't ask me why but I have found this out by messing around with my modifier stack

Hey Prs-Phil, you should go into the Options/advanced options in the UVW-unwrapper, there you will find a lot of checkboxes for constant update in viewports and bitmap preferences.

I'm not sure if you mean you can't see it in the viewport or in the unwrapper.

Yeah, I had the same problem!!

It seems a bit silly but the default setting for UVW Unwrap was with "0" brightness for map so nothing was visible. Fortunately there are advacned options as others said which solves this problem! Also dont forget to save your setting so every time you use unwrap you get desired settings;)

Yes, its a good habbit to save your ass whenever possible:beer:

P.S. I meant save settings option directly in UVW Unwrap:)

thx guys it works now, but can you tell me how to freeze the vertics that I set. I am always used to clicking the freeze symbol (the thermometer) but thats gone. I couldnt find it in any options or in the help files. Probably I´m just to blind to find it but I´d be happy if you guys tell me :) :) :) :D

You'll be wanting unwraptools from Chuggnut.

Freeze, hide, relax, etc. Tons of great tools.

Hey, just right-click in the unwrapper and you should have "freeze selected" on the quad menu. :)
