New Pinup

Hi... just did some research as what makes a pinup look as classy as the original in the timeframe :) and now I wander around and find your thread... :)

It looks very promising... the pose is actually very good I think and I can't wait to see where you are going with this.

I have two problems one is a biggy: the size of her feet... they are huge... So even if you sport size 15 (50) women have usually smaller feet. But I am sure you know that :)

Second one is rather minor but I think the position of her right nipple is a little off.

Thanks for your input. It’s actually been a while since I've done any digital painting and after staring at this piece for about 10 hours....seems like no matter which way you flip it, it still looks the same lol. Now that you point it out...her feet are too big.

I'm not exactly sure where I'm going with this one..didn't have any reference material...just kinda takin her as she comes. :) I'll be posting the progress.

Haha... The moment I committed I thought: "oh god... what if they ask me to talk or think I am some kind of pin up artist god" lol (i am absolutely not)

But I'll share... the basic idea behind my research is why is it that most women (definitely not all) can take on breathtaking sexy poses at will. When and at the same time I have really no idea what a sexy pose is for a man.

Well... here are some of the things I found: The pin-up pictures are sexy because...

... they are not all revealing (some imagination is required) VERY IMPORTANT!!

... they are depicting women that are a little clumsy in pose or expression or action(this is sexy to a man because she needs him to help her)

... the women in the pictures have stretched legs, backs and neck so as to fully accentuate the female form (curves are your friend as is the hip waist ratio (70% is optimal sexiness according to scientists) )

... there is always a setting or prop that hints at what the surroundings are or what she does in her daily life thus giving the picture a semi personal touch.


Well... I think that covers the points that are seen in most images I define as a classic pin up which are way different from the marvel(TM) ones :)

I hope you guys think this knowledge in valuable... I do at least a little bit. It still hasn't helped me to solve my question though so I'll keep searching and reading for that one :)
