I had heard they were doing this several times but I always thought iit would be something stupid and cheesey. I think they proved me way wrong. This has moved to almost the top of my must see list for this year!!!!:applause:

Ha!
"You better start believing in ghost stories - you're in one"
...and how about:
"You like pain? -Try wearing a corset!"
LOL!
It appears to be a cool design & set piece, but sweet Jesus, the movie looks awful. :argh:
Anyone know where the trailer music is from? It sounds very Zimmer-ish...?

I think this movie is alot like Tomb Raider, its something to just sit back and have fun with. The second you get critical with it it will fall apart .

I think that they are going for the kind of fun pirate movie that they used to make in the 30's and the 40's. And of course the undead Pirates is a modern touch.
If you watch the more recent Pirate movies, (like Roman's Polanski's Pirates ) they strayed soo much into the real world, that they lost the fun factor. Lets face it, the real world pirates from the 17th century, were not exactly a fun bunch.
Cutthroat Island tried to go the fantasy route, but it was too much a half baked effort to work right.
It is great that they are trying to make a fun cool movie the right way. And to me it is obvious that Jonny Deep is emutaling Erol Flynn in his performance. That is a step in the right direction!

This looks like a fun movie!
Yeah Polanski's Pirates was a bit of a misfire, but Cutthroat Island didn't deserve to do nearly as badly as it did. This one, however, looks decent, I like the casting, though how camp does Johny Depp look?! and isn't that the chick from Bend it like Beckham?
Overall, think I'll check it out, bit too many night scenes though in the trailer.

Yes, Keira also appears in Bend it Like Beckham.
And I don't think this movie will be like Tomb Raider which I found painful to watch.
I hope (think) that Verbinski will use the irreverent humor he used in The Mexican. I think it can work.
Probably the abundance of night scenes is for: well the ride took place at night, and second the nature of the curse only makes itself apparent under moonlight.

This looks so good. I love pirate movies and have to admit that hollywood has definately not put out a decent one in a long time (Cutthroat Island did get a raw deal; it was not that bad). Johnny Depp is perfect for this role and I even like the humour in it.

I like old pirate movies, too... especially the one with Burt Lancaster, "Crimson pirate"? Don't know original tittle, only polish translation. This one seems nice, some really cool shots in the trailer.
