max 5 1500ish polys (before teeth). i made this more as a practice, I was experimenting with subdivisioned nurb surfaces and low poly modeling , the actual base of the model is 750ish triangles with 1 subdivision + smooth on the render.

I decided to make it a caveman because with the sub division i wanted to have some bold well defined ridges like the jaw and deep eye sockets to figure out how to model this way.

this is where i am now and i thought it was better than most heads id made in the past :) so i figured i should ask for crit before making a body.

Q. do you think he needs hair tattoo's scars? and if yes long/short tribal/celtic ect?

oh the textures are just basic diffused colours except the eyes, and they will change.

i would say thats a great start. you went the right way. but you can make it even better! make it more detailed. dont go to the body too soon!

his nose is not right, yet...
i cannot think his ears are all you got left in you?!
of course there´s still the seem in the middle (noticed on the nose and back of head)

what i really like is his expression...he has something inside :p

just make it even better!

give em a more redishbrownish skin color, and make the inside of his mouth for lipsync if your doing a animation. last of all, put some nice textures on it.

cheers for the advice :)

tuzz - ok fiddled with the nose gave it a nice ridge and a bit more depth around the edges. the seam will go when i join the face up with symetry, (as one half is an instance at the moment)

twitchy - darkenend the skin a little for now i will make it darker when i get round to making textures. that wont be for a while as ive got too much uni work going on at present and i still have to improve my photoshop skills alot before texturing it.

heres an update, i wasnt going to do any more modeling today after posting the originonal but i sprained my ankle playing football (my god it hurts) so i decided to sort out the above problems and start with the hair. at the moment its half with an instance so its symetrical, but i will roughen it up when i join it together,( THE HAIR AINT FINISHED YET MANY STRANDS LEFT TO ADD so take that into account) the hair is seperate from the head so if you guys dont like give me advice as its easily changed/removed.
