Hey guys, i need a hand. I am very new to motionbuilder but have learnt abit within the last day i had used it. Basically i am trying to plot some motion capture information from one skeleton to my own.

This is of course through the use of a character rig, which i can save and load animations to and from my rig. However i have a problem with my mapping of bones. Basically i need to map some bones which are based on a football. For the mocap rig, there are about 3 bones for the ball, one being the main bone, a marker called srt and another with the name r, whch i think is the ball rotation. These are linked to hip bone. Now the rig i have has a simpler version of this, just one bone for the ball. Now i have mapped these bones to the props, but for some reason none of the information is tranfered. I was wondering if anyone could give some info of what i could do.

As exlpained above i have been able to transfer information from the mocap rig to my own, but its just this damn ball bone which is the problem. thanks guys.

props slot in character only makes things "plot or bake" when the rig is, does not do mapping.
use a few constraints and then just plot them directly.

parent or orient/postion

Hey Bclark, thanks for the reply. I kind of understand what you are saying, but also do not.
the line "props slot in character only makes things "plot or bake" when the rig is, does not do mapping." I don't quite understand.

What i do think you are saying, is i should instead of map the bones in the characterize dialog, parent the bones to one another.

However seeing as transform information from the other bones have transfered using the method i explained above, i do not understand why this bone doesn't do the same?! I don't really know what i am talking about, but seeing i am using the method of plotting my animation from one skeleton to a character then finally to another skeleton, how would i orientate the bones especially when the rigs are completely different (i.e. mine is a simpler version, and from what i understand with the method i am using, i am averaging out the movement from the more intermediate rig, to my much simpler rig.

I know my typing must be really confusing, but unfortunately as this is new to me, i am not really sure how to explain it, apart from what i know, which is not much.

Thank you again.
