Does anyone know how to fix this problem that Max 5, 5.1 and DX 9 have?
I installed the Service Pack and I have DX 9 but I get lines where they shouldnt be...
How do I correct this problem?

thanks in advance

1. Contact discreet and maybe they'll work on another patch.
2. Remove the DX9 patch and/or 5.1 service pack.
3. Look for a better driver set for your vid card.
4. Use OpenGL instead.

actually, if im correct, DirectX9 will only work if you have a 3d graphics card that supports it, the Radeon 9700 Pro is one example. So if you don't have such a card, you cannot use it... stick to OpenGL

Feel free to post a screenshot, the lines you speak of sounds like a standard display-problem I usually encounter whenever MAX is in DX mode.

Which SP1 are you referring to? Micro$oft's SP1 WinXP? Or discreet's SP1 for max 5.1? Ideally you should have the XP one as a minimum.

I'm not sure how stable the discreet service pack is for max- I've downloaded it but haven't installed it yet because other posters here at CgT indicate some performance issues with the SP. However, there is just a DX9 patch available at discreet as well that may help if you don't already have it. The discreet SP1 includes the DX9 patch already.
