View Full Version : v10 enhanced OpenGL Q
Ernest Burden 09-20-2007, 06:02 PM I just installed my v10 upgrade and tried the Enhanced OpenGL display settings. It turns my 'constant/lines' into a hiddenline looking viewport. Is that normal? I have OGL on (versus software rendering) and a Quadro 4600 card. What should I expect from E-OGL, and does it sound like I'm doing something wrong here?

Constant shading + Lines may normally look like hidden lines depending on viewport background color unless you change the objects color, the constant shaded object is just obscuring the lines behind the object. If changing the objects color doesn't cause things to look any different then it may be a driver issue, but it's not one that i've ever encountered before. If you migrated your preference folder accross it may be the cuase of the problem, and youshould ismply dump your existing preferences, they're not compatible with R10.

Thanks for the reply.
In this case it doesn't, the objects mostly have colors set, so in constant they show those colors. But switch on the E-OGL and they all go gray with lines. The Quadro's driver is the one provided by the workstation's maker--Boxx, and the machine is very new, so I would hesitate to play with it.
What should E-OGL look like in the viewport? This is a v9.6 file under v10-64bit if that makes a difference.

I should add that when I turn on E-OGL I also lose transparency of objects, that shows when its off. The entire model does show the workspace grid back to the horizon right through the otherwise solid model. Odd.
The nVidea driver has a preset for C4D, by the way, which I left at defaults.
EDIT:
I switched the 'compiler' setting in OGL and things look better. That file still looks the way I described, but a sample file shows colors, transparency and shadows in E-OGL. So now I know what it should do. I'm not sure why my working file is acting the way it is, but the Enhanced bit is working.

in your working file are the texture paths right? the regular ogl stores lowres previews int he cinema 4D file which is why one can open a file without the textures but still see them int he editor. Enhanced OGl dynamically loads the textures onto the graphics card so it cannot use the lowres versions so if the textures are not there it would drop them. Not sure if that is the cause or not, just a theory.

There aren't any textures. I'm just talking about the general material colors.
